Things INFPs are good at
INFPs are interesting, oddballs who possess many a talents. Based on their personality type and characteristics, let’s take a look at some of the things that INFPs are good at.
Understanding and reading people.
People who belong to the INFP personality type are known empaths. These people have the ability to sense what someone is going through before they ever share it. Unspoken words are heard the loudest by INFPs, because they pay such close attention to the body language and mannerisms of people that rarely anything slips past them. They’re not the best at observing their surroundings, but when it comes to other people, they can just sense what is going on inside an individual’s head, what emotions they may or may not be experiencing, and often even know exactly what it is that they may need in order to feel better.
They are also incredible at reading people. INFPs are good judges of character and personality. They can spot disloyalty, condescension, negativity, and gas-lighting tendencies from a mile away. If somebody pretends to be a certain way in order to impress an INFP, more often than not, it doesn’t work. INFPs appreciate authenticity, and despise people who think it is okay to trick other people into liking or trusting them. These introverts are highly sensitive to the intentions of others, and they don’t waste time giving chances to people who smell like betrayal from the very beginning.
Drawing people to themselves.
Another thing that INFPs are good at, is attracting the attention of others. An INFP individual often appears as this enigmatic, mysterious being who thinks about how the space works, and why life is the way it is. Despite being introverted, INFPs have a very vibrant personality. They prefer to interact with people one-on-one, however, but can leave such an impact on others, that they can’t help but come back for more.
Imagination.
Big surprise! INFPs are good at being imaginative. This comes from their secondary cognitive function of Ne (Extraverted Intuition), which gives an INFP worlds filled with endless possibilities and fantastical scenarios that they utilize to make sense of the outside world. Their imagination knows no bounds, and it also, at times, helps them comprehend complex thoughts and choices, and helps them consider every possible outcome of a single decision.
Utilizing creativity.
The sea of imagination that INFPs hold within themselves makes them extremely creative, and able to come up with out-of-the-box ideas and concepts. INFPs are known for their artistic nature. These people often communicate their internal feelings through their written, drawn, or painted work. These people can make music, or make their bodies move in certain ways and communicate both their pain and joy and more to the viewers. INFPs are known to have a way with words, but if put on the spot and asked to share something abruptly, they become awkward and hide inside of their shells that they constantly try to break free of, using their art.
INFPs become some of the most successful artists, who prove to the world how expertly an INFP can utilize their creativity.
These people can work in any field, be it creative or non-creative, and often find success because of their unique ideas to manage company employees with paramount efficacy, and make professional operations go over as smoothly as possible. They can work as a data analyst, for example, and come up with a unique and efficient technique of analysing large amounts of data.
Being understanding.
INFPs hold the record for being some of the most understanding people on earth. Their empathy and compassion allows them to put themselves in the shoes of others, and see things from different perspectives. Which is why, when somebody hurts them or makes a mistake around them, INFPs are quick to let go and give people another chance.
Listening.
INFPs are excellent listeners. They don’t enforce their advice on other people. In fact, they have the patience and energy to sit back and let people talk their hearts out, without ever making them feel unwanted or unheard. These people are generally invested and fascinated by human beings, and they do everything in their power to make people’s lives easier. They understand that more often than not, people need someone to lend them an ear, and reach decisions and conclusions on their own after having expressed their troubles.
Mastering languages.
You may come across INFPs who are proficient in more than one language. These people have the tendency to master different languages, and communicate with different kinds of people using language they feel most comfortable in.
Empathising with people.
Like I said, INFPs are highly empathetic. They may not always be able to help people, but you may always find an INFP absorbing the pain of, say, a stranger in a hospital with no attendants, or a financially challenged individual who is struggling with making ends meet, or even a random person who has just lost a loved one. INFPs are compassionate beings, and they cannot help but relate to and empathise with the heartache of people they come across.
Being original.
INFPs are authentic, and they feel no shame in letting the world know who they are. These people are often considered to be weird and they’re not always appreciated for being unique. But an INFP would never try to fit in to the society and follow a standard put in place by social norms. They believe in being their own original self, and they don’t shy away from sharing with the world that no matter what, they are always going to stand for the things they believe in.
Creating safe spaces.
Being around an INFP can be a very soothing experience. That’s because these introverts believe in providing people with a safe space where they can open up and share their deepest of troubles and thoughts. They provide people with comfort and are non-judgemental in nature, so people easily open up to them, and find them to be very easy to talk to.
Feeling deeply.
INFPs possess the cognitive function of Introverted Feeling, or Fi, which allows them to experience emotions with a depth and intensity that is unfathomable to most. These people have entire worlds inside of their minds, and they’re all fully operational at all times. An INFP may not be the best type to express their feelings openly, but that’s because they feel inwardly, and struggle with the outward expression of their emotions. Which is why many people see them and don’t realize this about them.
Maintaining peace.
INFPs are a peaceful people, who avoid conflicts and confrontation at all costs. They believe in effective communication, and try their best to help other people resolve their conflicts in a manner that is least hurtful and causes least trouble. This type is known as The Mediator, because they often find themselves jumping into problems to bring forth more peaceful solutions, and maintain peace.
Being optimistic in the face of adversities.
INFPs are often described as being filled with light and positivity. They are optimistic beings who tend to believe that things will work themselves out. They have faith in humanity, and more often than not, see the best in people. They inspire other people to become the best versions of themselves, and live by a code of spreading joy, even in difficult times.
Being a moral compass.
INFPs are known for their strong values and principles that they do not give up on, no matter what. They often act as a moral compass for the people they’re close with. People rely on them to help them navigate the confusing world around them, and INFPs, being strongly opinionated as they are, do so happily.
Being in control of their emotions.
INFPs also keep themselves in line, by being their own biggest critics. These people hold themselves accountable to the things they do, say, and often times even think. INFPs, since they feel their emotions inwardly, are good at navigating their feelings and emotions, and they take their time, making sure that they understand what is going on with them, before they open up to someone else.
Being spontaneous.
The idealist is a prospecting type. These people tend to go with the flow, and welcome unexpected changes with open arms. They can be very spontaneous, and enjoy unplanned, random activities more than ones that are planned. These people adjust well in all types of environments, because they are easy-going and often come up with countless what if scenarios when met with a situation, so they’re usually not surprised by a lot.
Counselling people.
INFPs, because of their empathetic tendencies, are often well-suited for a career in counselling. They help people navigate complex feelings and emotions, and help them become better, healthier versions of themselves. An INFP can give the best advice, and people often seek them out for emotional support because of their compassionate personality and drawing nature.
INFPs can be good at a lot of things, but a lot of these things depend on how an individual grows, and whether they’re taken care of and nurtured into becoming the best version of themselves. Environment as well as faith in our abilities, both play a vital role in transforming people into strong individuals who can help improve the current condition of the world we live in.
