An INFP will most probably not make the first move because of the following 5 reasons –

Who is an INFP?

The INFP personality type was developed by Katharine Briggs and Isabel Myers, the authors of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI®). INFP stands for Introversion, iNtuition, Feeling, and Perceiving, which are four key personality qualities based on C.G. Jung’s work.

Each of the four letters of the INFP code represents a significant personality feature of the INFP personality type. 

INFPs are stimulated by alone time (Introverted), focus on ideas and concepts rather than facts and specifics (iNtuitive), base their decisions on feelings and values (Feeling), and like to be spontaneous and flexible rather than planned and structured (Perceiving).

Because of their empathetic idealism and gentle concern for others, the INFP personality type is often known as the “Healer.” The INFP is also known by the following nicknames:

  • The Thoughtful Idealist (MBTI)
  • The Mediator (16Personalities)

An INFP prefers an unstructured and free-spirited lifestyle. INFP is an introverted and ultra-creative Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) personality type. The INFP is sensitive, creative, and loyal to their values.

INFPs are creative idealists who are guided by their primary ideals and beliefs. A Healer who is preoccupied with possibilities; the actuality of the time is merely a fleeting concern. INFPs see the possibility of a brighter future and seek truth and purpose in their own unique way.

INFPs are sensitive, loving, and compassionate people who are highly concerned with their own and others’ personal progress. INFPs are individualistic and nonjudgmental, believing that each person must forge their own path. 

INFPs like spending time investigating their own ideas and ideals, and they gently encourage others to do the same. INFPs are creative and frequently artistic; they like discovering new ways to express themselves.   

INFP Personality Type Characteristics Are –

  • INFPs are introverts who are quiet and reserved. INFPs find that being in social situations depletes their energy, thus they prefer to connect with a small number of close pals. While they like being alone, this should not be mistaken for timidity. Rather, it simply implies that INFPs get energy from alone time. INFPs must, on the other hand, devote energy to social circumstances.
  • INFPs rely on intuition and are more concerned with the overall picture than the finer points of a situation. INFPs can be quite thorough about things that are important to them or tasks they are working on, yet they tend to overlook little or insignificant details.
  • INFPs value personal sentiments above everything else and their actions are affected more by these concerns than by objective data.
  • INFPs prefer to keep their choices open when it comes to making decisions. INFPs frequently put off making key judgments in case the circumstance changes. The majority of judgments are made based on personal ideals rather than reasoning.

What are these 5 reasons why an INFP will not make the first move?

INFPs take their time to get to know a person. 

When it comes to putting yourself out there and being vulnerable, INFPs might be a little apprehensive. It may take some time for them to have the bravery after getting to know that individual. 

INFPs, on the other hand, have a hard time holding their powerful emotions within and will want to express themselves to this individual. They may struggle to initiate when they first meet someone, but once they have known them for a while, they will be much better at it.

INFPs take the time to get to know the person they like and form connections with them. Then, when they’re all set, they toss caution to the wind.

INFPs are sensitive people who are often afraid of being exposed. 

As a result, despite their enormous and loving hearts, they generally keep their sentiments to themselves when they’re in love with someone.

The more they like someone, the more timid and self-conscious they get about doing anything about it. When it comes to seduction, they favour the long game.

INFPs frequently have to evaluate the cost of righteousness against their comfort. Needless to say, they frequently select the former. INFPs want to do the right thing for others above all else. They wish to assist others in discovering their own objectives and needs. 

At the heart of it, they aim to inspire you to be yourself. They want you to act based on your own wants rather than the rules of the social realm.

INFPs delve deeply into the lives of persons they care about. They are continually assessing the waters that lie within souls, always pretending to see diamonds in others that they cannot locate in themselves.

INFPs are continuously striving to go deeper within themselves in syncopation. INFPs will uncover new levels inside themselves when they converse with and learn about others.

When an INFP is interested in you, they will interrogate you from every angle. They want to know what’s going on behind the mask you wear in public.

They aren’t bothered with your persona because they know you have something deeper concealed within you. When an INFP is captivated with you, you can be all they see when you’re around. 

They will absorb as much of you as they can while the background fades. Every pucker of your nose and every movement of your hand will be remembered and treasured.

INFPs like uncovering hints in you that point to underlying significance. They can’t help but notice all the subtleties in your emotional range.

You may appear to be smiling brightly on the outside, but an INFP will notice whether that expression corresponds to what is going on inside of you. 

They’ll quickly figure out which parts of your presentation are genuine and which are a ruse after spending some time with you.

Once you’ve mastered these patterns, INFPs will not let you go. They will stress the necessity of keeping loyal to your inner self. They don’t want you to put on a show for anyone, even yourself.

INFPs find psychological safety to be extremely essential.

If you spend more than a few seconds with an INFP, you’ll immediately realise how essential psychological safety is to them. They want people to feel comfortable conversing with them.

An INFP who cares about you will make self-sacrifices for you on a regular basis merely to ensure your safety and well-being.

This may seem counter-intuitive, but an INFP’s willingness to be oneself is one of their most valuable gifts to others. However, only a few people are permitted to enter their depths. What others perceive frequently corresponds to their beliefs.

INFPs will not back down from their beliefs, regardless of the consequences. Their introversion may give a gentle, caring impression on others unless someone crosses a solid limit or violates a value they cherish.

INFPs, on the other hand, tend to hide more of themselves than they exhibit. They are frequently hesitant to share their creative efforts because they are afraid that their emotions expressed in physical form would be too revealing. 

They are concerned that people will make too many assumptions or connections about them.

However, if an INFP is genuinely interested in you, they will gradually reveal the pages of their book to you. They might tell you stuff they’ve never told anybody else.
